Course Description:
Based on the Canadian Well Identification Standard (PDM-031), this class provides additional detail related to how the CWIS system is applied in Saskatchewan. This class is intended for review by companies and organizations who conduct or have an interest in the petroleum industry in Saskatchewan.

Learning Outcomes:

• Explore how highly divergent our language is, particularly when we describe objects that are universally important to the oil and gas industry
• Understand that our industry demonstrates significant differences in how Well components are named and identified
• Review how these differences affect all users of well information
• Identify the six physical and one logical components in a well configuration
• Describe the relative importance of each Well component to various disciplines and functions within a typical operating company
• Discuss how the seven Well components can be applied in a variety of well configurations that are typical of current operations
• Describe how to start gathering and collecting the information needed in the working environment that will allow the concepts in WIAW to be implemented properly

Evaluation Method(s) / Metrics:
Final Exam (70% or higher to achieve a passing grade).

PPDM Certificate of Completion.
